Samantha completed her Bachelor of Podiatry at the University of Newcastle and joined The Foot Whisperer team in 2013.

Samantha previously worked at a Podiatry clinic on the Central Coast before being drawn to the idyllic lifestyle of The Great Lakes where she enjoys playing golf and water sports.

Samantha has completed additional training in lower limb dry needling and foot mobilisation and is passionate about ingrown nail care and surgery, after experiencing ingrown nails throughout her childhood.

Lynn JenkinsLynn Jenkins – Clinical Psychologist

Lynn is a registered clinical psychologist. She has worked in private practice for over 13 years and has provided therapy to people with a variety of psychological and emotional difficulties. She typically treats anxiety, depression, grief, difficulties associated with sexual abuse and relationships. Lynn has a particular passion for early intervention. She loves to educate and assist new parents with the social/emotional aspects of the parent-child relationship, anxiety and depression during and post-pregnancy, as well as assisting children to manage their worries and anxiety.

Lynn wears many hats. She is a trained Kids and Family Yoga Instructor and Mindfulness teacher, offering groups classes in her wellness centre, The Meditation Space. She is also a published author. Her books include Best Start, examining early emotional foundations of a child and how to provide the best start for a child, School Start, essential reading for any parent wanting to help their child develop the emotional skills necessary for school success, Lessons of a Lac, a resource picture book, teaching children a useful way to think about and manage their worries and anxieties, Brave, teaching children how to find their inner brave, and her latest book, Ollies Treasure, teaching children about mindfulness and happiness. Lynn together with illustrator, Kirrili Lonergan, visits schools to educate kids about anxiety and how to manage it. Lynn’s preferred treatment approaches include: CBT, ACT, Mindfulness and Hypnosis. Lynn is a passionate, empathic and engaging therapist.

Kathryn is a Registered Psychologist who has provided mental health services and counselling in the local area since 2005. She is experienced in assessing and treating a wide range of issues including depression/mood disorders, anxiety and eating disorders, ADHD and behavioural problems. Kathryn sees children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, as well as couples and families. She uses evidence-based interventions, particularly Cognitive Behavioural, Interpersonal, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies.

Tony McElroyTony McElroy – Credentialed Diabetes Educator and Consultant Pharmacist

Tony combines his wealth of knowledge of pharmaceutical medications, with that of a Credentialed Diabetes Educator.

He completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy at Curtin University WA, and later undertook his Clinical Pharmacy Post Graduate Diploma at Curtin University also, and was granted accreditation with the Association of Consultant Pharmacists. After completing his Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetes Education, at the University of Sydney, he went on to be successful at applying to become a Credentialed Diabetes Educator with the Australian Diabetes Educators association.

Tony’s main aim is to help people navigate the difficulties of living with diabetes through improved knowledge of lifestyle factors, medications and the use of technology to enable people to largely self manage their condition.

She takes a positive approach in providing practical advice about eating for good health. Lani enjoys all areas of nutrition, with particular interests in weight management, diabetes and cardiovascular health.


Jay RichardsJay Richards – Clinical Psychologist

Jay is a Clinical Psychologist with several years of experience working with adults, adolescents and groups. Jay specialises in the assessment and treatment of mood, anxiety, substance use, trauma and personality disorders. He assists clients to manage their emotions, develop effective coping strategies and live a more rewarding and meaningful life. He applies a number of evidence-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Solution-Focused approaches. He works with clients to develop tailored goals and management strategies which work for them.

Prior to joining the Life Matters team, Jay trained and worked as a psychologist in a number of settings including community mental health centres, mental health facilities, hospitals and correctional facilities. He also has years of experience working as a university tutor and lecturer. Jay completed his clinical training and PhD (Clinical Psychology) at the University of Newcastle. His research focus was developing an understanding of what motivates individuals to engage in healthy behaviours and what motivates them not to do this. He regularly attends professional development workshops to further develop his skills and become aware of new developments in psychological assessment and intervention. Jay is dedicated to developing collaborative therapeutic relationships grounded in mutual trust and respect. He aims to empower individuals such that they can manage problems in their lives independently and effectively.

My name is Jacobine van Kessel. I am a local clinical psychologist, born in The Netherlands in 1976, and now living in the Manning Valley with my family.

In 2000 I completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology (Utrecht, The Netherlands) and since then I have completed several post-master registrations (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Therapist) and additional training (e.g. Advanced EMDR training, Schema Focussed Therapy).

Since 1998, I have been practicing in a variety of settings (in The Netherlands and Australia), for example: adult mental health departments, a university department, crisis intervention, forensic clinics and private practice. Most settings involved working in multidisciplinary teams.

My therapeutic style is warm and personal and my aim is to develop a good therapeutic alliance in order to support and achieve positive change.

I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority and with the Psychology Board of Australia, endorsed for clinical psychology as an approved area of practice and member of the Clinical College.

Lyndon qualified as a Hearing Aid Audiologist at Aspen University, Birmingham in the UK in 1999. After seven and a half years service in the Royal Air Force Lyndon decided it was time to retain in a different field. Lyndon brings a wealth of knowledge from over 20 years experience in the hearing industry. Having worked in many hearing clinics across the UK and Australia, Lyndon has relocated to Port Macquarie and joins the ihear Port Macquarie as Senior Audiometrist and Clinic Manager.

Jennifer Kent (RPSGT) is a registered Polysomnographist and also a registered nurse. She has been a member of ASTA (Australian Sleep Technologists Association) since 2000.

Jennifer Kent R.N. (RPSGT) is a registered Polysomnographist, as well as a registered nurse. Jennifer has been a member of ASTA, (Australian Sleep Technologists Association) since 2000. She has over 20 years of sleep diagnostic experience, including establishing and managing the Mayo Sleep Investigation Unit from 1998 to 2013. She is now the Laboratory Manager and Co-ordinator for the Mid North Coast Sleep Clinic. Jennifer works with patients setting them up for home studies, and analysing and reporting on the collected data. She also initiates patients with their CPAP therapy, including mask selection and fitting. Along with counselling for anxiety, claustrophobia, CPAP intolerance, and evaluation of the effect of pressure relief, Jennifer’s knowledge and experience in sleep related disorders is an asset to the clinic.

Ann RussellAnn Russell

Ann Russell (B.A.) Ann Russell has over 12 years of sleep experience working in both a hospital sleep laboratory and our private clinic. Ann is a member of ASTA (Australian Sleep Technologists Association) and is one of our senior technologists, working with our CPAP Program in setting up our patients with their CPAP equipment and supplies. She also counsels our patients in regards to their CPAP therapy to improve patient compliance and satisfaction with the use of CPAP. Ann also attends to setting up our patients for Home Sleep Studies, both in our clinic or at patients’ homes. As a user of CPAP herself, she has a great understanding and empathy for patients commencing and adhering to CPAP therapy.
