Forster Tuncurry Medical Centre (FTMC) has been providing the local community with exceptional medical care for the past 30 years. Since opening our doors in 1985 the centre has seen many changes, but our focus has always remained the same; providing the highest quality health care for our patients.
Dr Stewart Hunter opened the practice in a small house opposite Cape Hawke Private Hospital. He was joined by Dr Garry Clemensen in 1990.
A purpose built medical centre was then opened in 1997 allowing us to cater for the growth of the Great Lakes and surrounding area.
Having a large team of dedicated GP’s allows us to provide individually focused medical care to meet patient needs. We have three female GP’s who provide general medical services alongside a specific Women’s Clinic, which focuses on bi-annual check ups, sexual health and contraception.
Our goal is to provide the local community with comprehensive and compassionate health care. We have a strong focus on preventative health, assisting patients to maintain the highest possible quality of lifestyle.
As part of our ongoing quality program we appreciate any feedback on how we can improve our services. If you have a compliment or complaint we want to hear about it. Please feel free to speak to your Doctor, the practice manager, or another member of staff. Alternatively you can write to us.
FTMC is dedicated to the education and training of future GP’s. The practice facilitates a wide range of teaching opportunities and clinical experiences for Registrars and Medical Students.
We cater for Medical Students from Sydney University, University of New South Wales,Newcastle and New England Universities, and provide General Practice Training through the Valley to the Coast.
